Roadworthy inspections, done right
If you’re selling a car, transferring registration or re-registering a vehicle in Victoria, you’ll usually need a Certificate of Roadworthiness (RWC). RSB Autoworks carries out RWC inspections at our workshop at 24/10 Graham Street, Melton.
The inspection is about safety, not cosmetics. We work through the items set out in the VicRoads requirements, and if anything doesn’t meet the standard, we tell you exactly what and why — and we can do the repairs in-house so you’re not driving between workshops.

When do I need a roadworthy certificate in Victoria?
Generally when you sell a registered vehicle, transfer registration, re-register an unregistered vehicle, or clear certain defect notices. VicRoads sets the rules, so check your situation with them if you’re unsure.
How long is an RWC valid?
For a registration transfer, a Victorian RWC is generally valid for 30 days from the date it’s issued. Check current VicRoads requirements for your situation.
What gets checked in an RWC inspection?
A roadworthy inspection checks the vehicle’s safety-related items — including tyres and wheels, brakes, steering and suspension, lights, seats and seatbelts, windscreen and wipers, body rust and structure, and engine and driveline for leaks or safety concerns.
What happens if my car doesn't pass?
We’ll give you a list of what needs fixing. You can have us do the repairs in the same workshop, then complete the inspection so you can get the certificate.
Is an RWC the same as a pre-purchase inspection?
No. An RWC only covers safety items required for registration. A pre-purchase inspection looks at the overall mechanical condition of a car you’re thinking of buying.
